Anatomy of an Election
Joanne Galloway, the executive director of Michigan Country, will discuss how our elections work and how we can be involved in ensuring that they are free and secure.
Michigan Country is working proactively to arm our community members with the knowledge and vocabulary to help defend the security of our elections.
They seek to inoculate our community against the mistruths, misinformation and disinformation plaguing our communities.
Their goal is to elevate truths and your confidence in our democratic processes.
They will address threats and potential election subversion.

Monthly Protest at the Barry County Courthouse. Let's show up in BIG numbers to show our community what we stand for. The election is getting closer every day and we want to stir up interest in voting for change!
BARRY COUNTY ETHNIC FOOD FEST
Barry County Ethnic Food Fest, Saturday September 19
Mark your calendar for the second annual ethnic food festival to be held at The Hastings Church of the Nazarene (1716 N Broadway in Hastings) on Saturday September 19, from 11:00 AM- 2:00 PM.
This event is co-sponsored by Roundtable Companions for Racial Equity (RC4RE) in Hastings, and features delicious food from the diversity of cultural backgrounds that comprise our community.
Celebrate our community's diverse heritage through food, music, and fellowship. Maybe you have a favorite ethnic dish from your family background that you would like to share.

BC Dems Fundraiser
MBCI is a nonpartisan group, and we remain unaffiliated with any political party. However, we must acknowledge the special support we have received throughout our existence as an organization from the local Democratic Party. They have been with us from the start and continue to stand alongside us. So we encourage you, if possible, to support the BC Dems by attending their 2026 fundraiser. It is scheduled for Thursday, August 13 at the Legacy at Hastings Club House. All proceeds stay local, and the money raised will support the local candidates who align with our organization's values and mission! Here's how to participate.
